I’m a composer, guitarist, arranger, sound designer, and producer based in Brooklyn, NY. I’ve taught at Yale, Saint David's School, and CO-OP Arts High School, among others; performed around the world in rock bands, orchestras, opera pits, and experimental groups; composed award-winning orchestra pieces, critically-acclaimed rock albums, and film/TV soundtracks.

Sometimes, I wish composing was as easy as making yogurt—once started, it would essentially create more of itself. Award winning tabla player, composer and teacher Ritesh Das was born in Kolkata, India to parents Nrityacharya Prohlad Das and Smt. Nilima Das. He is the brother of the late kathak dancer, Pandit Chitresh Das. His parents had a music and dance academy, Nritya Bharati, the first of its kind in Kolkata after the Independence of India.

I graduated with Honors from The City College of New York with a BfA in Classical Piano. I have enjoyed playing all types of music during my professional career, including with famous artists. I’ve been playing and performing for thirty years, and have been composing for over twenty years.
