I am a flamenco guitarist based between India and Spain. I was born in the Himalayan Mountains and grew up in Mumbai. For many years, I was primarily a rock guitarist. I studied jazz, Indian music, harmony and theory before flamenco took over my life.

I’ve been teaching and performing music in the Washington, D.C. area for over three decades. My solo classical guitar performances have garnered me recognition, but I’ve also played in various musical ensembles, ranging from flamenco to jazz to rock. I studied Classical Guitar at Northern Virginia Community College and George Mason University.

Ramon Amira started playing the guitar at the age of fifteen, then studied classical guitar with Juan de la Mata, and flamenco guitar and dance accompaniment with the great virtuosos Mario Escudero and Sabicas. He continued his classical and flamenco guitar studies in Los Angeles with Vicente Gomez.
