Hi, I'm Jessie! I have my Bachelors degree in Fine Arts and I work as a private art teacher in Pennsylvania. I create personalized lessons around my students' individual interests and skill levels. The goal is to have fun, while learning real professional art principles you can use on your own!

I’ve been painting with oils for three decades, and drawing for as long as I can remember. I’ve been a full time fine artist for a decade and a half now, and have been doing guest demos, private and group lessons for many years, for various subject matter and age groups.

I’m currently studying Illustration and 2D Animation while also working as a freelance illustrator. I live and work in Rome. I’ve always loved telling stories through drawing, whether through illustration or comics. That’s why my lessons can also focus on visual storytelling and artistic communication, in addition to drawing techniques.

My experience teaching both in-person and online has strengthened my ability to make complex concepts accessible through any medium. I prioritize a warm, professional atmosphere in which students can take risks, express themselves authentically, and experience the joy and discipline of artistic practice.

I love encouraging creativity and appreciation for art. Teaching is rewarding, especially seeing the growth of my students' skills & imaginations, and after giving private and small group art lessons for over 18 years, I enjoy it even more than when I first began!

Between teaching 2D animation at Tokyo Design Academy in Japan and directing an anime production studio in Tokyo, most of my day is spent drawing my own character art or correcting what my staff or students deliver. Animation trained me to understand drawing at the deepest level because you can't fake as much in motion as you can in a single illustration.

I'm a working artist and art educator with over 10 years of experience teaching students of all ages — from little kids just picking up a pencil to adults rediscovering their creative side. My lessons are relaxed, conversation-based, and built around what you want to make. I teach drawing, watercolor, gouache, acrylics, and mixed media — and I meet you where you are.

I am a native English speaker, with technical experience in French, German and Italian. I have 20+ years professional teaching experience for all ages - infants to senior citizens, in ESL, STEAM, Montessori, English Business Technical Language and Travel Language. Music, Art and Architecture are my passions too! I am an architect with specialization in sustainability (LEED AP).
