Barbara, has been working with fibers for more than 50 years. Her work has taken many forms from embroidery, to loom and off loom weaving to various bead weaving techniques, to hitching and Kumihimo braiding. In college, she studied with Virginia West with a focus on pattern weaving on the loom.

My name is Jeanne. I am a native English speaker from the Pacific Northwest of the United States. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in secondary education. I have experience teaching one-on-one with secondary students and adults in many subjects, specializing in English, History and Drama.

Beth began weaving in 1970. She is a student of Norman Kennedy, has had two extensive stays in Japan to study folk textiles, and holds an MFA in textiles from Georgia State University. A Folk School instructor since 1983, Beth currently lives in western North Carolina, where she weaves and teaches. She completed yoga teacher training through Asheville Yoga Center in 2011.

Kimberly first learned to spin in 2009. Within a year she had her first bags of free wool and it has been her passion since then to educate others about this most wonderful fiber! She has taught about fleece, fiber prep and spinning at fiber festivals up and down the east coast, as well as for fiber Guilds.

If you are looking for a fun, flexible, and engaging tutor, I am perfect for you. I obtained my Master’s degree in Education (German language), Ph.D in Germanic languages at Moscow State Linguistic University and Teaching Certificate (German as a Foreign Language) at Goethe-Institute (Munich).

I have been involved with music for thirty- six years. When I was sixteen, I started singing in the church choir and I fell in love with singing. I worked a part time job to pay for music lessons. This led me to pursue an associates in arts degree for liberal Arts Emphasis in Creative and Applied Arts. I soon grew interested in making and producing my own music.

I'm a mum with a passion for learning, teaching, and encouraging others to do the same! I have taught for 22 years in urban public schools, elite private school and tutoring academies, and my own homeschool. Currently, I develop my own curriculum and teach crochet and writing classes at a non-profit learning community alongside other dedicated educators.

Jessica Kaufman is the owner/founder of Asheville's WAXON Batik & Dye Studio. With a genuine love of teaching (and a Masters in Crafts Education!) she leads classes on ice dyeing, tie-dye, batik, and Shibori virtually and all over the East coast.

Rhiannon Huscha will be teaching multiple classes at the 2021 MDSWF.

David Heustess is an artist and arts educator in Nashville, TN and his work makes use of clay, fiber arts and bead work. After many years of working as a modern dancer/teacher, David began pursuing his interest in pottery and other art mediums. He attended the Appalachian Center for Crafts and in 1995 he earned a BFA degree with studio concentrations in clay and fiber arts.
