Hi, I’m Dave Dohearty. I’ve been teaching guitar full-time for nearly 20 years, and I love helping students of all ages and levels finally play the music they actually enjoy. My main styles are Blues, Rock, Jazz, Fusion, Latin, and Bossa Nova.

"I'm a rhythm and lead guitarist & songwriter for multiple projects with worldwide social recognition. I graduated from San Jose State with a Bachelor's of Music in jazz guitar, and am currently teaching around 40 lessons a week to students ranging in ability from beginner to professional.

I have a degree in Classical Guitar Performance form Virginia Commonwealth University(1994), and have been teaching guitar, cello, mandolin, ukulele, hammered dulcimer and other instruments for over 30 years. I have taught independently and in music schools including Bronstein Music School in San Francisco and Hillside School of Music in Anchorage, Alaska.

From as early as I can remember, I was aware of the magic and power of sound. Harmony, melody, and rhythm were constant companions growing up — whether I was syncing footsteps to imaginary beats on the sidewalk or singing harmonies to ’70s radio hits from the back seat of my parents’ AMC Gremlin, music was always there. I come from a long line of musicians.

I am a guitarist, composer, and educator with a career dedicated to performance, teaching, and musical creation. My academic background includes studies at Universidad El Bosque and a Master’s degree in Composition from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, where I graduated Magna Cum Laude. Throughout my career, I have worked in various areas of the musical field.

I've been surrounded by music for most of my life. Chad has been teaching private guitar lessons for 7 years and performing performing for 12. Chad received his Bachelor's in Music Degree with an emphasis in guitar performance in 2023 from Utah Tech University, studying Jazz and solo acoustic guitar.
