I specialize in a wide range of instruments — frame drum, darbuka, handpan (hang drum), cajón, djembe, daf, riqq, Caucasian nagara, and jaw harp (vargan) — connecting traditional and modern rhythmic languages.

Harrist is a New York City based multi-instrumentalist and educator specializing in upright bass and yaylı tanbur. Michael performs in a wide array of world traditions including Turkish classical and folk music, Jazz, Western classical music, Hindustani music and American roots music.

Ziya Tabassian began playing the tombak (Iranian drum) at the age of ten. After a brief initiation period in Iran, he continued his autodidactic training in Quebec, his adopted homeland. From 1994 to 2001, he studied classical Western percussion with Julien Grégoire and obtained a Bachelor’s degree in interpretation from the Université de Montréal.
