Professional Drummer & Groove Coach Teaching language: German I am a professional drummer, groove coach and music educator with over 7 years of teaching experience, as well as extensive live and studio experience. I am a classically trained percussionist with a Master of Music from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Music from Central Michigan University. My performance background includes regular appearances with the Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra and the Michigan Sinfonietta Orchestra.

I'm very passionate about music and drums and love teaching them! I've taught hundreds of students of all ages and skill levels, from beginners to seasoned pros. I have an AA degree in Drum Set Performance from the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California and studied with many notable teachers including Tommy Igoe, John Xepoleas, Fred Dinkins, and Rob Carson.

I’ve been playing drumset professionally and teaching private drum lessons for over 15 years. Proficient in all styles, I’ve performed in everything from rock cover bands and big band jazz to funk and Latin ensembles. My career has taken me to cities including New Orleans, Dallas, Atlanta, and across Mexico, where for the past five years I’ve been gigging full-time along the coast.

My name is Ian McLaughlin and I am a percussionist, conductor, and music educator. I am humbled to share that I have performed alongside various ensembles across the United States. I have instructed Kindergarten classrooms, middle school beginning band, high school percussion ensemble, collegiate mixed instrument ensembles, and a state champion marching band drumline.
