Born in Setúbal, Portugal, in 1991. Started his musical studies at the age of 10 in Palmela at the Sociedade Filarmónica Humanitária. He has studied with many teachers in several schools. In 2000 he studied with teacher Ângelo Caleira in Escola de Música da Sociedade Filarmónica Humanitária (Music School of Sociedade Filarmónica Humanitária).

I started learning the tuba when I was nine years old, thanks to my school’s music department where I had one-to-one lessons and played in county and regional groups. Over time, I progressed to national ensembles like the National Youth Orchestra, National Youth Orchestra Wales, and the National Youth Brass Band of Wales.

Hello, my name is Michael Nunes, and I am a composer and horn player from Sherwood Park, Alberta. I am currently a substitute musician with the New World Symphony in Miami as I pursue an MMus degree at The Juilliard School with Erik Ralske of the Metropolitan Opera.
