Hello! I've been playing and teaching for several decades, and I can show you how to have fun with the piano. If you're a beginner, I can take you right from step one and have you playing familiar songs by the 1st or 2nd lesson. If you already have some experience, I can add to it. I've been playing and studying piano since age 7 (long time).

My passion is music! I started to play the piano and violin when I was five years old. Through the years, I learned many instruments, but finally focused on violin. Students who enjoy lessons practice more, accomplish more, and have more fun! Interactive lessons with on-screen: sheet music, games, exercises, theory and more -- that both teacher and student can draw/write on. I often make video recordings for students right in the lesson!

A solo pianist and multi- instrumentalist, he loves using his musical gifts and talents to bless others. He plays and teaches many styles of music including hymns and gospel, Celtic, classical, light jazz (Charlie Brown), standards, etc.

Piano has been my passion since starting private instruction at the age of 8. I have spent over 20 years sharing that passion with students of all ages and skill levels. Alison has taught over 20,000 lessons in various instruments and voice to over 550 students in private lessons and small groups, in person and online. Her students range from age 3 through adults. Alison is the co-owner of Strand Studios in NJ.

Lessonface Teacher of the Year Welcome to my studio! I love teaching all ages the joy of playing the piano! I have taught piano for over 20 years and believe a patient, positive and compassionate approach helps students to make better progress and have fun while learning to play. I have frequently been recommended for those who are shy or especially sensitive about taking lessons.

For over 33 years as a musician and 29 years as an educator for all grade levels and teachers alike, I have the experience of learning from my previous students and applying more efficient techniques to current and future ones. Much like my students, I work towards learning the most innovative techniques while foreseeing the trends of the future in music and education.

I teach piano, guitar, bass, songwriting, and music production for kids, adults, beginners, and returning musicians. I earned a BA in Open Music Studies from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in May 2020, and I bring 23 years of piano experience, 14 years of guitar experience, and 10 years of songwriting, recording, and production work into my lessons.
