National Old-Time Fiddle Champion Jesse Maw has been performing since age five, moving fluently through old-time, bluegrass, swing, Gypsy-jazz, fusion and beyond. He’s shared stages with icons such as Mark O’Connor, Jerry Douglas, Brent Mason and Gonzalo Bergara, and has coached at the Shasta Music Summit, Crown of the Continent Guitar Festival and DjangoFest NW.

On top of over 18 years worth of teaching experience at three schools and privately,I started my relationship with music at 12,when I joined the LINDEN HIGH SCHOOL Cadet Band/Marching Band (South African Champions) and learned to play tenor horn,flugelhorn and entry level side drumming.

I have played classical music since three years old. I have taken over 500 lessons myself. I started on violin but switched to viola in high school. I now have many years experience with both. I have found that many violinists tend to stick to classical or fiddle. I am very different. I have experience with many different types of music.

I cut my teeth drumming in speed-punk bands, acting/singing in a traveling theatre troupe, and eventually fronting an alt-rock band, for over a decade. I’ve worked on a number of albums for independent artists as a session musician, co-writer, producer, engineer, or mixer; often all of the above.

Music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up diving into every music-related extracurricular I could find, and later completed the sound engineering program at Africa Digital Media Institute. Gavin grew up in Snoqualmie, Washington and studied guitar with Davey French, guitarist of the rock band Everclear for 6+ plus years.
