I am a cellist, composer, and conductor with a degree in Music from Harvard University. Alongside my work as a performer, I have taught cello and piano to students of different ages and levels, from children picking up an instrument for the first time to older students preparing for auditions.

Music has always been at the centre of my life — as both an art and a language of expression. I’m a composer, violist, and educator with a PhD in Composition from the Royal Academy of Music in London, where I was mentored by Sir Harrison Birtwistle and Hans Abrahamsen.

- I was born and raised in Timmins, Ontario, Canada. - Not long after I started taking guitar lessons, I started teaching myself the riffs to my favourite rock albums. My taste tends to run towards the heavier and more epic side of rock, with Deep Purple, Rainbow, Led Zeppelin, the Scorpions, Gary Moore and Yngwie Malmsteen being my biggest influences.

I am a professional musician and music educator with a strong academic and artistic foundation. I earned my Music Certificate from the Conservatory of Music in Ecuador and later graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Ramapo College in New Jersey.

Hi, my name is Aviv Porath. I'm originally from New York City, but have spent time in Shanghai, Rio de Janeiro, Tel Aviv, and Taipei. I have a music degree from Bard College, where I studied jazz composition, theory, and arrangement. I have a funk-fusion band based in NYC (where I am the singer/guitarist/composer), but we've traveled around the US and Canada on tour twice.
