I am a professional Piano Teacher with 14 years of teaching experience with students of all ages and levels. As an instructor, I have worked with many students of all levels, including total beginners and renowned artists such as Andre 3000 and Tame Impala bassist Cameron Avery.

I moved to New York City from London in 1993. I studied with renowned alto saxophonist and educator, Dave Glasser. After four years playing around New York, I decided to take formal music education and seek a degree. I began in the jazz program at San Francisco State University, studying sax and piano with John Handy, Hafez Modirzadeh, Dee Spencer, Andrew Speight and Wayne Wallace.

Born and educated in Rome, moved to the UK to complete a course of academic studies in music, first as an undergraduate at Edinburgh University (Bachelor of Music with Honours) and then as a postgraduate at Huddersfield University.

I have been teaching clarinet, bass clarinet, saxophone, and oboe for 40 years, having previously served on the adjunct faculty at The College of Idaho and Northwest Nazarene University. I am an active performer in the Portland, Oregon area as a member of several chamber ensembles, and previously having been the bass clarinetist with the Boise Philharmonic for over 20 years.

My goal is to inspire creativity, and a love for playing. I began playing the guitar at age 13. Classic rock bands such as Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, and the Beatles, as well as blues guitarists Stevie Ray Vaughn and Eric Clapton, are my early musical influences. My love for music really bloomed when I started writing songs, and performing in bands in High School and College.

Jack Schabert is a Twin Cities based drummer, composer, and educator. He performs professionally around the metro area with various jazz groups, and is an Instructor of Percussion, Piano, Drum Set, and Jazz Studies at Opus Music Academy. Jack is pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Instrumental Music Education at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota.
