Justin Near​ is a Nashville fiber artist and homeschooler who has a passion for sustainability and supporting local and regional communities and economies. Growing up, Justin was surrounded by crocheting, knitting, embroidery, and sewing, and dabbled in many of those as well as closely related fiber arts.

Hi everyone I’m Lisa Lamb, This is my 2nd year teaching at SAFF. I’m a long time knitter who’s been teaching knitting on a 1 to 1 basis for oh 20+ years now, and branched out of my comfort zone almost 3 years ago when I was asked to teach at my guilds Knit Inn. I really enjoyed the experience and I look forward to our Knit Inn even more now.

Roxie Fricton is an Atlanta-based textile artist whose work explores the intersection of history, identity, and women’s lived experiences. Through handweaving, she connects past and present, reinterpreting traditional woven drafts by combining research and pattern manipulation to uncover hidden narratives and reframe their meanings.

Meg Evatt started knitting when she was 17 years old. She checked a book out of the library and taught herself through trial and error. After retiring, she has studied and honed her knitting skills and knowledge. Meg began teaching knitting classes in the Upstate area to help other knitters learn new techniques, new stitches, increase knitting skills and troubleshoot knitting…

Gardening host Bethany Joy Hebbard is a knitter, sewist, and dyer. Her husband is a permaculture-trained farmer, and together they keep a large garden on their suburban homestead in Jamestown, North Carolina. Bethany has a strong love of local fibers and dye traditions, and teaches classes on cultivating dye plants, fresh-leaf indigo, and more.

Nam Joti Kaur Khalsa, who learned this traditional American broom making technique from her teacher, Karen Hobbs. Karen Hobbs was a long time student of John Campbell Folk School who instilled her love of basket weaving and broom making in dozens of students across the country.

Melanie Bailey Cox is a spinner and weaver with a passion for textile arts. Melanie is a member of the Burlington Handweavers and Spinning Guild and through the guild she became exposed to and involved with handweaving and hand spinning. With her engineering background she has always had a love for processes and enjoys understanding how to make things.

Crystal Lawrence has been knitting since her Grannie taught her when she was 11. She has always been fascinated by the next challenge around the corner and when her friend and owner of a LYS offered to sell her a knitting machine 12 years ago she was hooked. Almost everything she has learned for MK has come from experimentation, hand knitting know-how, and vintage books.

Jenn Lee from Cary, NC, has a professional background in textile technology and industrial knitting. Her technical background gives her a unique perspective on hand knitting she loves to share with others. Jenn enjoys knitting to create high-quality clothing with special touches not found in stores, focusing on unique details and whimsical touches.

Kris Jenkins is owner of alk&me, an ohio-based indie dye company. She has been immersed in the fiber world for 10 years now and teaching for the last six. When she is not attending festivals, she is teaching at her LYS or in her studio in Northfield Ohio.
