Color Theory for Quilt Makers
Color Theory for Quilt Makers with Teri Lucas
Take your understanding of color in quilt making to a new level, exploring techniques and tools for choosing color for the quilt blocks and free-motion machine quilting. Students will learn how to choose color from an inspiration fabric, a photo, and the color wheel, then choose thread for the decorative stitching. Then, add in some fun bits and bobs. Learn the "theory of color relativity" and how color plays with us.
This small group class is presented in collaboration with John C. Campbell Folk School and Lessonface. Students are invited to attend an optional Orientation and Closing Ceremony to connect with various online Folk School classes.

Class: Color Theory for Quilt Makers
Awesome. I love Teri's classes because I learn so much more than I thought I would when I signed up. In this case, I thought it would primarily be about color theory in choosing fabric colors--but by adding in the quilting thread color as an additional dimension, the possibilities for experimenting and playing with color become astronomical! Though I had very little time to work on class homework during the scheduled classes, I am incredibly excited to get going on a bigger project inspired by what we did in this class.

Class: Binding Options for Quilt Makers
VERY informative, I didn’t realize there was so much to learn about quilt binding! Teri put together a very well planned out class and has a wealth of knowledge to share. I learned so much about quilting in general. I am excited to use my new skills to finally bind the pile of quilts I have been putting off.

Class: Foundations in Free-Motion Quilting
Awesome. Not only did I learn the basics of free motion quilting (which is why I signed up) and feel like I can start using it immediately, I ALSO learned a ton of very helpful information about thread and sewing machine needles in general. As a relatively experienced garment sewer, this is knowledge that will be widely useful in future sewing endeavors. I felt very empowered at the end of class. Also, Teri was a wonderful, warm, funny teacher with whom I would love to take more classes.

Class: Binding Options for Quilt Makers
Excellent class. Lessons were well-organized, and Teri is a super teacher! We were given plenty of individual help. I found that the online format actually made it easier to see the instructions, than having to crowd around the teacher at the sewing machine. And, of course, we had the class recording to refer back to. Highly recommend this class or any that Teri offers.

Class: Binding Options for Quilt Makers
The class met my needs - and I told the instructor that if she gives this class again, I'll take it: there is always more to gain!

Class: Binding Options for Quilt Makers
This class provided great information, was well-timed (1.5 hours over 4 weeks), and allowed plenty of time to practice without the class losing momentum. Teri is a good, caring instructor. This topic is never covered in depth in other quilting classes and was very needed.

Class: Foundations in Free-Motion Quilting
It was a good class and Teri is an excellent teacher. I took lots of notes and learned a lot of new things which I’ll apply in my projects going forward. But because I so enjoy going to the Folk School to be immersed in a class, I will probably not do another online class. We had homework and, because I was at home, life got in the way and I struggled to complete my tasks. I would much rather be at the School where I can concentrate fully on what I want to learn.
