Great Fiber Arts Classes with Expert Teachers Online

A crafter since childhood, Jennifer Costa discovered needle felting in 2020. She was hooked after the first few stabs! She enjoys landscape and three-dimensional felting. She sells her artwork through her website and at a gallery in the NC mountains, but is especially passionate about teaching others how much fun felting can be!

Cindy Irwin has been hooking rugs since 1983. She is a certified McGown teacher, holds classes in her home, studio, and is a traveling teacher. She is a juried member of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen and in Rug Hooking Magazines' Celebration of Fame. Cindy is well known among her students for embellishing rugs with gemstones and hooking with mixed media.

Jenn Lee from Cary, NC, has a professional background in textile technology and industrial knitting. Her technical background gives her a unique perspective on hand knitting she loves to share with others. Jenn enjoys knitting to create high-quality clothing with special touches not found in stores, focusing on unique details and whimsical touches.

Dana Watson used to have a variety of handcraft hobbies, but they all fell to the wayside when she discovered temari in 2005. She is a member of the Japan Temari Association, and in 2016 traveled to Japan to learn more about regional temari styles. She has been teaching at the John C.

Hi everyone I’m Lisa Lamb, This is my 2nd year teaching at SAFF. I’m a long time knitter who’s been teaching knitting on a 1 to 1 basis for oh 20+ years now, and branched out of my comfort zone almost 3 years ago when I was asked to teach at my guilds Knit Inn. I really enjoyed the experience and I look forward to our Knit Inn even more now.

Crystal Hesser has been spinning yarn for over a decade. She’s a regular contributor to Ply and Tiny Studios Magazines and is the creative mind behind Spin Up Girl. She shares her fiber exploits on Instagram at @spin_up_girl. Her specialties are inspired art yarns and supported spinning, but is also well-versed in traditional styles.

Nam Joti Kaur Khalsa, who learned this traditional American broom making technique from her teacher, Karen Hobbs. Karen Hobbs was a long time student of John Campbell Folk School who instilled her love of basket weaving and broom making in dozens of students across the country.

Liz Spear brings nearly five decades of experience to this series. As a master weaver, wet-felter, and designer, she crafts over 80 unique garments annually for craft fairs, galleries, and conferences. I fell in love with weaving about ten years ago, when I retired from my career in graphic design. The two disciplines overlap perfectly through my love for color, pattern, and the design process. I became an artisan at the Hartford Artisans Weaving Center and began teaching as well as weaving my own creations. My classes focus on aiding weavers in understanding weave structures.
