I am an experienced music teacher of piano and voice for over 12 years with a degree in music from the Evergreen State College in Washington State. I specialize in multi-genre styles such as classical, pop, rock and roll, ragtime, jazz, and contemporary. I also teach composition and song-writing.

Hi! I’m Krista, a working actor and filmmaker working across TV, film, and commercials, with credits including Star Trek: Short Treks(Paramount+) and recurring roles on Doc (Fox), Sheriff Country (CBS), and Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent(Citytv/The CW).

I received my certification to teach English as a Second Language from International TEFL Academy in 2025, and my Master's degree from the University of Utah in 1997. I was Senior Managing Editor at Zenith News for 12 years, where I won two first-place awards for my writing. I am currently teaching English to Ukrainian students through ENGin.

Marla Schaffel starred on Broadway in the Tony-nominated musical Jane Eyre. The role earned Ms. Schaffel several accolades: a Tony nomination, the Drama Desk Award, a Drama League Award, and the Outer Critics Circle Award, all for Best Actress in Musical.

With 45+ years in the industry as a vocalist, actress in film/TV, director, coach and voice over talent, many of my alum students now work professionally in opera, music theatre, film, concert work and voice over. I'm very proud of them! They are now my colleagues.

I am a professional acting teacher and coach with over 26 years of experience mentoring performers of all levels. I began acting at age eight and trained classically under legendary acting teacher and director Gerald Freedman, as well as other distinguished mentors at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, where I earned a BFA in Acting and Drama.
