Meet Summer and Winter
About Meet Summer and Winter
Summer and Winter is a classic weave structure that was historically used to produce warm coverlets. Today’s fibers and colors allow us to adapt it to contemporary uses. In this presentation, students will learn the basics of Summer and Winter, explore variations on the basics, and learn to use the structure in designing and planning original works. We will also discuss using the structure in profile drafts.

Laurie Duxbury
Laurie lives and works at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. As a child she was fascinated by all things fiber, particularly when visiting Colonial Williamsburg. She learned to spin first, on a spinning wheel built by her grandfather. Spinners hang out with weavers and spinning became the entry drug as she developed her fiber habit.
