Sustainable Spinning: Making Art Yarn with Eco-Friendly Ingredients

About Sustainable Spinning: Making Art Yarn with Eco-Friendly Ingredients

Learn to create handspun yarns that are unique and eco-friendly, using ingredients such as plant fibers, wool from endangered sheep breeds, and reclaimed and recycled materials such as weaving thrums, denim threads, yarn and cloth remnants, and much more. As well, you'll discover why sustainability is important to the fiber arts and how you can be a part of the solution. If you've always wanted to spin "art yarn," this class is a good introduction. You'll be spinning like you've never spun before!

This class is limited to 50 students.

Class Materials Needed

• A blending tool such as hand carders or a drum carder
• Spinning tool such as a spinning wheel, e-spinner, or spindle
• Fibers recommended by the instructor after you enroll.

A fibers list (including recommended suppliers) will be provided so that students can have the option of working in tandem with the instructor to create a sampler yarn.
