Blending Color: Carding vs Combing with Jillian Moreno
About Blending Color: Carding vs Combing with Jillian Moreno
I like to spin color, but I’m not a dyer. When I need a specific color, I card or comb commercially dyed and natural colors together until I get exactly what I want. In this class we’ll compare the effect and speed of blending color by carding and combing. Which is faster? Which blends most thoroughly? Which method is better for making tweed, semi-solid, or heathered yarn? I’ll be presenting with hand cards, combs, and a drum carder. I will also show how to use easy to find and inexpensive tools, like dog and cat brushes and combs to blend. You do not need to have all the tools to participate in this class; use what tools you have and learn about the tools you might want to buy later.
