About Chair Yoga with Gigi Matthews
If you can breathe, you can do yoga! This gentle, breath-centered chair yoga class focuses on improving posture and joint mobility, strengthening core muscles, enhancing circulation, deepening breath, and reducing tension in a supportive and welcoming environment. Rooted in mindful movement and accessible practice, these classes are perfect for beginners and for anyone who has never exercised or tried yoga before.
Class Materials
Students will want to provide:
• A sturdy chair without arms
• Non-restrictive clothing
* Consult your doctor if you have any preexisting medical conditions and check if this practice is suitable for you. If you experience any pain or discomfort, listen to your body, adjust the posture or stop all together.

The class will meet for four 1-hour live online sessions.

Having practiced yoga since the age of six, Gigi Matthews trained as an instructor in the lineage of yoga master TKV Desikachar, whose teachings adapt classical yoga poses to meet the needs and abilities of each individual within a holistic framework that includes the mental, emotional, and philosophical aspects of this ancient practice.
