(Free Lecture) Woefully Unprepared; Building a Fiber Arts Publishing Company from the Ground Up

About (Free Lecture) Woefully Unprepared; Building a Fiber Arts Publishing Company from the Ground Up

Join Jacey Boggs (founder and director of PLY, WEFT, and PURL magazines) for a candid retrospective on building a career and a publishing company from the ground up, starting with a secondhand spinning wheel and no formal training. This talk traces almost three decades of hands-on learning across spinning, weaving, and knitting, the lessons (and mistakes) that shaped each craft, and the collaborators and mentors who helped turn one magazine into three. A personal look at building an editorial business rooted in curiosity, craftsmanship, and community.

Jacey Boggs

Jacey Boggs loves fiber and has spent almost three decades helping other people love fiber. Learning to spin on a secondhand wheel bought off eBay, Jacey has taught spinning all over the world, once paid off a house with a yarn called Vitreous Humor, and started a publishing company by accident — now home to PLY, WEFT, and PURL magazines.
