Italian Mini Course

Travelling to Italy this summer? Or dreaming of traveling to Italy?

Join the Director of Languages at Lessonface for a four-week Italian mini course focused on speaking. Every Tuesday evening we’ll have a 60 min lesson followed by a 60 minute moderated practice session every Thursday. Starting from the very first class, you will be conversing in Italian. This mini course is designed for the beginning Italian language student and will be geared towards travel language, including common scenarios that you’ll encounter on your travels. No prior knowledge of Italian required.

Why take this course?

There’s absolutely no substitute for speaking the language and practicing Italian with others (in fact, we know that from research!) You’ll be part of a small cohort of eight students from the comfort of your home or office, along with Dr. Daniela Busciglio, who was a professor of Italian before joining Lessonface this year.

Your Learning Outcomes

At the end of this four-week mini course, you will be able to:

• Introduce yourself, describe yourself and your interests, your family, your basic travel plans and ask basic questions
• Order food and drinks at restaurants and cafes, making purchases
• Describe cultural norms regarding food and drink in Italy (e.g. when you should order a cappuccino, what Italian happy hour is like); 
• Speak with accompanying hand gestures;
• Ask for and understand directions

ABOUT DANIELA BUSCIGLIO

Dr. Daniela Busciglio is the Director of Language Learning at Lessonface. She was a professor of Italian and Second Language Acquisition at the University of Oklahoma, an Italian Lecturer at The University of Alabama, and taught Italian at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she earned both her MA and Ph.D. She has been tutoring and teaching since she was 16 years old and has taught Italian language courses, English language courses, second language acquisition theory, Italian literature, Italian cinema, sociolinguistics, piano, yoga, and meditation. Both of Daniela’s parents are from Italy, and she grew up spending summers there with her relatives.
