James Stamp Trumpet Method
About James Stamp Trumpet Method
James Stamp was one of the leading trumpeters and professors of the last century. Gaining experience as the first trumpeter of the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra for 17 years, and later as a trumpet player in the Hollywood studio orchestras, he was able to create his fantastic method of playing the trumpet which became the basic literature for every trumpet player.
He wrote the instructional book "Warm-Ups + Studies for Trumpet" which was first published in 1978.
Thomas Stevens, former Principal Trumpeter of the Los Angeles Philharmonic said, "I believe James Stamp was one of the finest teachers in the world. His approach was so flexible that I have never seen him fail to improve a player, whether it be an established symphony musician, jazz or lead player or a twelve-year-old student."
There are many exegeses or interpretations of Stamp's method, but not all of them are authentic.
This workshop offers the opportunity to get acquainted with the basic building blocks of the method in the most authentic way, i.e. through my personal experience and through the experiences of the most famous brass professors in the world.
