The Life & Legacy of Marguerite Porter Davison
About The Life & Legacy of Marguerite Porter Davison
Learn about the life and legacy of weaver Marguerite Porter Davison, author of The Handweaver's Pattern Book (the "green book") and The Handweaver's Source Book. Davison was part of the hand-weaving revival of the 1940s and 1950s, and she believed in educating others and preserving textile history. This presentation will also look at archival practices at the Winterthur Museum and Millersville University Archives, where Davison's personal library and weave draft books are preserved. We will also take a look at the reprinting of The Handweaver's Pattern Book, both by BARN (led by Davison's granddaughter Caroline Cooley Browne, releasing summer of 2027) and Gather Textiles.

About Lessonface, PBC & CNCH
Lessonface's mission is to help students achieve their goals while treating teachers equitably. Since 2012, we've hosted more than 30,000 students and 2,000 teachers for over 500,000 music, language, and arts lessons and classes online. The Conference of Northern California Handweavers, Inc. (CNCH) was founded in 1953 to further the art and appreciation of the craft of handweaving. The member Guilds of CNCH are from five Northern California and Northern Nevada areas. Our focus is always to promote the education and the appreciation of the fiber arts. We sponsor an annual conference and produce an online quarterly publication (CNCHnet).
