Make Friends with Your E-spinner
About Make Friends with Your E-spinner
Discover the joy of your e-spinner! In this hands-on class, you’ll master setup, speed, tension, and twist control for smooth, consistent results, while picking up tips to troubleshoot common challenges and spin more comfortably. You’ll see what your e-spinner can do, and for those transitioning from a treadle wheel, we’ll highlight the key differences. We’ll also explore smarter plying techniques to speed up your plying. Gain confidence, build skills, and make your e-spinner your go-to fiber companion.
Supplies, Equipment & Materials Needed for Class
• An e-spinner in working condition with 3 bobbins, lazy kate, orifice threader, maintenance kit, and reliable power source (battery or wall power)
• 2 ounces of wool roving or top to spin in class, great if it’s several colors. I generally recommend Corriedale for my beginner classes - please not Merino or other short staple fibers. If you have a wool allergy, contact me prior to class / before enrolling.
• 2 half-ounces (or more) of singles on 2 bobbins that were spun at least a week prior to class (i.e. well rested), if you want to explore plying in class.
