Bring Vibrant colors to life right in your own backyard ! In this lecture class, you'll discover the art of growing and using local North Carolina plants to create stunning, natural dyes for yarn. Learn which everyday garden favorites like sunflowers, lilies, buttercups, acorns, and even pokeweed can transform fibers into rich hues of yellow, green, brown, magenta, and more.
Whether you're a seasoned gardener, a curious crafter, or new to both, this class will give you the tools and inspiration to make your backyard a source of endless creativity and play. Grow your own color palette and enjoy the satisfaction of crafting with hues you cultivated yourself!

What will students learn:
I will guide you through:
- Selecting and cultivating dye friendly plants for NC climate and your garden space.
- How to plant, harvest, and prep your garden bounty for dying to maximize color potential.
-Discuss different dye techniques for creating colorful yarns
-discuss eco-friendly gardening practices to support your plants and local pollinators.
- Learn how plant dyes connect us to sustainable practices, traditional arts and the local environment.

Stacy is an avid knitter and passionate textile artist with 16 years of experience in the fiber arts world. Her journey began with knitting and spinning yarn, quickly evolving into processing raw fleece by hand, exploring natural dyeing techniques, and finally, growing her own dye plants.
