Spinning for a Project: Evaluating and Planning a Yarn with Jillian Moreno

About Spinning for a Project: Evaluating and Planning a Yarn with Jillian Moreno

How do you spin a yarn for a specific project? The key is knowing what you want and how to get there, and learning to love (or at least appreciate) sampling. In this class we’ll discuss and explore how each decision in the spinning process affects your finished yarn and your finished project. A few of the things we’ll discuss are: • How to evaluate a knitting pattern in order to build a handspun yarn • How to assess a commercial yarn to spin a match or make a better yarn • Making informed choices about your project yarn • How to evaluate your yarn • The elements of successful sampling • How to sample quickly Note: This isn’t a hands-on spinning class, it’s more of a planning to spin class. You can absolutely spin whatever you’d like during this class, while you listen and watch me work through my process of planning and spinning intentionally for a project.
