ABOUT NASRINE RAHMANI

Based in Madrid, Nasrine is a highly experienced professional percussionist specializing in Cajon and Congas. Born in Australia to a Mauritian mother and Iranian father, Nasrine has been a full time professional musician for more than 18 years. Upon completing a Bachelor of Music Performance degree at the prestigious Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne, she began making numerous study trips to Cuba to continue to fine-tune her skills on congas and timbales. She worked for many years in Melbourne as a percussionist in Latin, Jazz, Pop and World music projects and after meeting local Flamenco musicians she began to investigate the genre. Taking a serious interest in cajon, she began traveling to Spain, eventually choosing to relocate to Madrid. She was attracted to the city´s vibrant percussion scene and its melting pot of Flamenco and latin percussion. After 11 years residing in Madrid, she is now one of the top references for Flamenco and Latin Percussion in Spain, regularly giving masterclasses at percussion festivals between constant local and international touring with artists of different genres.

Students Say

Nasrine is very nice and explains the technique very clearly. I am myself very passionate about music and especially about flamenco style and I was not disappointed. I truly enjoyed my class and feel I will be able to make good progress in learning cajón with her. She sent me a few videos after the class to make it easy for me to practice in between lessons. I would recommend her to anyone who wants to learn cajón.

— Mylene L.

Nasrine was incredibly professional. She entered the lesson promptly and was immediately able to engage my 7 year-old. She was kind and introduced appropriate content while expecting a lot out of the student, which was wonderful. Her explanations were clear and easy to understand and her commentary was helpful and constructive. My child learned an incredible amount during our first meeting. I am thrilled to have found Nasrine on this site.
