About Group Mandarin Lessons for Complete Beginners (Children)
If your children want to learn Mandarin and they are complete Mandarin beginners; why not put them into learning Mandarin in a group class environment?
These group Mandarin classes focus mostly on speaking; and students will often work in pairs and a big group to practise speaking for conversations, vocabulary, Pinyin and etc. with their peers and the teacher.
Specifically, students will learn Hanyu Pinyin (汉语拼音 Hànyǔ pīnyīn) System, which is a written notation system that basically tells us how to pronounce Mandarin and its four Mandarin tones, as well as the neutral tone. Mandarin vowels and consonants will also be taught in the Pinyin system.
In addition, students will learn to speak interesting Mandarin words and phrases for greetings, such as “hello” (你好nǐ hǎo), “good morning” (你早 nǐ zǎo), “very well” (很好hěn hǎo), “not bad” (不错 bú cuò), “thank you” (谢谢 xièxie) and “good bye” (再见 zàijiàn). Moreover, they will also learn to ask the surname and name of a new friend in Mandarin; and this new friend will correspond accordingly.
Learning to speak from 0 to 100 in Mandarin is another interesting topic for children. Besides this, they will get to learn family members in Mandarin. Not forgetting to learn colours, they will get to play an online game for this too!
Other appealing topics which can capture children’s attention in the group Mandarin classes are food, drinks and fruits. Mandarin words/phrases such as “eat” (吃 chī), “drink’ (喝 hē), “want” (要 yào), “like” (喜欢 xǐhuan); and negative-form phrases such as “do not eat”, “do not drink”, “do not want” and “do not like” will be learned in the conversations.
Students will be provided learning materials (e.g. worksheets in pdf format) in advance before the classes commence.

Class Goals
(1) Understand and be able to pronounce basic Mandarin words based on the Hanyu Pinyin (汉语拼音 Hànyǔ pīnyīn) System.
(2) To be able to understand and speak basic Mandarin words, phrases and sentences in conversations via role playing.
(3) To create a sustained interest in continue learning Mandarin after these group classes.
