Discover the fun and meditative art of punch needle tufting in this beginner friendly workshop! Using a punch needle, monks cloth, yarn, and an embroidery hoop, you’ll learn how to create a small, textured rug or wall piece. Choose from a ready-made design provided by the instructor or bring your own simple sketch to transform into a cozy, one of a kind tufted creation. No experience necessary, just bring your creativity!
What will students learn:
Students will be guided through the entire punch needle tufting process, from designing their piece to tufting and finishing it for display. Along the way, they’ll learn how to:
-Set up an embroidery hoop with monks cloth
-Transfer or create a simple design
-Use a punch needle tool to create textured loops
-Select appropriate yarn and maintain consistent tension
-Finish their work for use as a small rug or wall hanging
Materials, Equipment, and Supplies the Student Must Bring to Class
Students are not required to bring any materials to this workshop. However, students are welcome to bring yarn from home that they would like to use.
