Intro to Creative Music Production

In this self-paced beginner music production course, learners will build creative confidence by turning simple ideas into short songs. This class is designed for beginners and focuses on helping students start without fear, explore music-making in a low-pressure way, and understand how producers shape ideas over time.

Throughout the course, learners will explore:

- what music production actually is

- how to get comfortable inside a DAW (music software)

- how different musical elements work together

- how to build and develop simple ideas

- how to shape those ideas into short songs

- how to finish and share a piece of music without overthinking it

This class is structured into 6 modules and a final capstone project. Each module includes a prerecorded lesson, a short reflection or observation activity when appropriate, a creative checkpoint, and a worksheet to help learners apply what they are learning. The capstone gives students the chance to complete one full idea from start to finish using the process they practiced throughout the course.

This class is taught in a calm, encouraging, and beginner-friendly way. Learners are not expected to already know music theory, play an instrument, or have prior production experience. The focus is on creativity, exploration, and building confidence through simple, repeatable steps.

Learners will interact with the course through video lessons, guided hands-on activities, reflection prompts, and independent creative practice. This is a self-paced class, so learners can move through the material on their own schedule during the access period. Teacher support is available for questions and encouragement along the way.

This course is not specific to one DAW. Learners may use whichever music production software they prefer.

Intro to Creative Music Production focuses on the creative side of music production. Learners who would also like to build confidence with sound, mixing, and audio fundamentals may pair this course with "Intro to Technical Music Production" for a more complete Level 1 foundation.
