About Dyeing Self Patterning Sock Yarn (A)

Do you love those sock yarns that make stripes and patterns as you knit? Learn to dye them for yourself! In this class, students will learn two methods of dyeing yarn to achieve stripes and patterns in their knitted socks, shawls, and other creations. Not just for Socks!

The capacity for this class is 8 students.

Materials Fee and Description

Your class registration fee includes materials with a value of $55 consisting of:

Two skeins of high quality Opal sock yarn (one of them will be pre-knitted into a sock blank), dyes, chemicals, and equipment.


Pre-class Homework

No homework prior to class.

Age Range

Minimum age requirement for workshop: 10 -15 must be accompanied by an adult

Melanie has been enamored with all things fiber since her grandmother taught her to knit and crochet when she was five or six years old. She has spent a lifetime delving deeply into every fiber art you can imagine. She has even travelled to Peru and Bolivia to study knitting and to Mexico and Guatemala to study Mayan backstrap weaving and embroidery.
