Bias Weaving with the Kayu: Squares, Triangles & Rectangles

Bias Weaving with the Kayu: Squares, Triangles & Rectangles

Explore the creative possibilities of bias weaving with the Kayu Multi Loom. In this two-day workshop, you will learn to weave three geometric shapes: square, triangle and rectangle, and discover how their different proportions, directions and combinations can become the building blocks for your own pin loom designs.
Rather than following a single project, we will explore how to think with shapes and experiment with simple design exercises. The goal of this workshop is not to complete one specific project, but to give you the techniques, understanding and inspiration to continue designing with your pin loom.

After more than 15 years working with this highly creative, enjoyable and versatile technique, I want to share the knowledge that has allowed me to go beyond individual woven squares and start designing my own objects, accessories and garments.

Class 1: Square & Designing on the Bias
• A quick introduction to pin loom weaving
• Understanding yarn specifications for bias weaving
• Weaving the bias square
• Basic stitch

Class 2: Triangle, Rectangle & Creative Construction

• Bias weaving a rectangle

• What You Will Learn

By the end of the workshop, you will:

• Have the foundation to begin creating your own pin loom projects.

The capacity for this class is 25 students.
