The Butterfly House Mini-Retreat

The Butterfly House: 90-Minute Mini-Retreat for Creatives

Join us for a gentle, semi-silent retreat devoted to private creative time. Our inaugural theme is Emergence. We’ll begin with a breathing mantra, a finger-labyrinth walk accompanied by music, and a creative invitation through poetry and imagery. Then you’ll have 45 minutes to create quietly alongside others. You may follow the invitation or work on a project of your own choosing. We’ll close with time to notice what has emerged and return gently to everyday life.

This is not an art lesson. No experience is needed, and you will never be asked to show, share, or explain what you make. There are no breakout rooms.

Class Materials

Students will want to provide:
Bring whatever you would like to create with—such as a journal and pen, drawing or painting supplies, an instrument, or a project already in progress. A retreat handout with finger labyrinths, imagery, and creative prompts will be provided. If possible, choose a quiet place where you can create without interruption.

By the end of the retreat, participants will have:

  • . Set aside protected time for reflection and creative work.
  • . Experienced a finger-labyrinth walk and a gentle invitation inspired by the theme of Emergence.
  • . Spent 45 minutes creating privately, using the invitation or a project of their own choosing with no pressure to share.
  • . Practiced “Sacred Noticing”: pausing to observe what emerged without judgment or pressure to finish.
  • . Explored how quiet creative time in the presence of others can offer refuge and renewal.
