People think of the deep blue color when they think of indigo. But using different methods, the fresh plant can produce somany colors. I will present how to grow Japanese indigo (Persicaria tinctoria) at home and how to make different colorssuch as light turquoise, brick pink, gray, mustard yellow, khaki green, lilac, orangish brown, etc. And, of course, how tomake pigments out of fresh indigo for preservation. The dyeing technique can be used for silk, animal fibers, linen, andcotton.
