Shaded Floral Wool Embroidered Coin Purse

Shaded Floral Wool Embroidered Coin Purse with Laura Berlage

Embroidery is a beautiful way to make an everyday object feel special—a sentiment that fits perfectly with this course. Inspired by traditional Nordic embroidery designs with the twist of using variegated yarn to create shading, explore the world of wool-on-wool embroidery with fun accessible stitches to transform upcycled fabric and liner into the miniature purse, along with attaching the kiss clasp like a pro. The embroidery yarns are from the instructor’s sheep! All the steps and techniques featured in this course are great skills to learn if you are eyeing up making a full-scale traditional purse in the future, and we’ll explore beautiful examples from across history and regions as we go. Students will also have the option of choosing their fabric color for a select array of wool.

Finished coin purses are approximately 4.5 inches tall (not including top of kiss clasp) and 4 inches wide. Boxed corners offer nice roominess inside. Beginner friendly while also a delight to intermediate level embroiderers as well.
