Beyond Rectangles: Shaped Edges in Weaving

About Beyond Rectangles: Shaped Edges in Weaving

Unlock the world of creative possibilities in weaving by breaking away from the standard rectangle! In this immersive online workshop, participants will delve into the art of weaving shaped edges. Learn to create geometric and organic shapes that can stand alone or are connected by raw unwoven yarn, creating dynamic movement. From beginners to advanced weavers, everyone is invited to explore techniques that transcend traditional rectangular boundaries of weaving. Discover how to create shaped edges that not only stay secure but also add a charismatic flair to your woven masterpieces.

Key Techniques:

• Shaped Edges Mastery: Learn the secrets to weaving shaped edges that are both structurally sound and visually captivating.

• Connectivity and Independence: Explore the versatility of shaped edges—discover how to seamlessly connect them within a larger piece or let them stand alone as unique woven elements.

• Loom Dressing: Participants must be able to dress a loom. We'll touch on foundational principles and advanced tips to ensure your loom is ready for the creative journey.

• Hands-On Practice: Engage in hands-on weaving exercises, progressing from basic shapes to intricate designs. Receive personalized guidance tailored to your skill level.

• Creative Exploration: Encourage your artistic spirit to flourish as we experiment with various shapes, colors, and textures to enhance the impact of shaped edges.

Classes will cover the topic of shaped edged and showing how to do this. Students will weave samples between sessions.
