Nordic Kitchen Comforts: Christmas Rice Pudding and Glögi
Nordic Kitchen Comforts: Christmas Rice Pudding and Glögi with Mathilde Yakymets-Lind
Enjoy the fragrance of cinnamon, orange, and berries as we make some of the most comforting traditional Nordic dishes for the holidays. First, we will learn how to make risgrøt, a rich, creamy, slow-cooked rice porridge served warm with cinnamon and butter. Next, we'll talk about how to use the leftover risgrøt to make riskrem, a cold dessert served with cream and a tart berry sauce. Finally, we will make a non-alcoholic version of glögi, a mulled wine (or berry juice) with orange peel and warming spices.
This small group class is presented in collaboration with John C. Campbell Folk School and Lessonface. Students are invited to attend an optional Orientation and Closing Ceremony to connect with various online Folk School classes.
