Kickstarting New Year's Resolutions

Many new and experienced musicians may have received new instruments for the holidays, and now it's time to put in the practice! Lessonface has some resources to help keep up your musical resolutions.

1. Goal Setting

One of the best ways to keep yourself in check for hitting those resolutions is to set attainable goals. If you have a large goal in mind, breaking it down into smaller steps will keep you from getting overwhelmed. Many people fall off of their newly carved path to goals because there are no check points along the way.

Lessonface has a goal setting page that can help you keep track of the steps you are taking to reach your long term goals. Register on the site and you will see the option to set up goals. Upon setting up the goal, you may also choose to share the goal with qualified teachers - or to keep it for yourself.

2. Booking Lessons

A great way to keep on top of attaining goals and sticking to practice routines is by finding a teacher who fits your needs and then booking regular lessons.Teachers can be the best motivators when it comes to practicing. Who doesn't want to be prepared for their lesson? A great teacher can assess your goals and lay out a path for their achievement, so that you can make real progress towards getting where you aim to be. Find a great teacher to get started with lessons.

3. Enroll in Classes

Another way to keep on top of reaching your goals is to enroll in classes. Taking classes will give you concrete lessons to follow and a specific reason to practice. Keeping up with course material is one of the best ways to get motivated! Lessonface has a new class with Rod Ferreira called Guitar 101. This course is free for the first week of January, and includes 15 video lessons bringing you from the basics of tuning through playing your first chords. If you have never played the guitar before, this class is great for getting your feet wet with the instrument. For those looking to delve deeper into guitar playing, Steve Stine's Absolute Fretboard Mastery - also entirely free - brings you through 12 videos focusing on intermediate guitar playing. Both of these courses help lay out attainable goals and practice techniques for those wanting to learn guitar.

We thank everyone for staying tuned with Lessonface and are excited for you to see what we have in store for 2017!
