Audition Prep for Performing Arts High Schools: Starts Oct. 26

This course is in two parts.

The first part: focusing on the requirements, making sure students have all the criteria in their application, what to wear/not to wear, interviewing skills. Then focus would shift to the ear training and harmony exercises, and sight-reading the students must prepare for their audition. Then helping students with their prepared piece, this also includes Italian Diction, as many of the schools require one song to be and an Italian art song. Some want to hear more musical theater, some acapella, some with accompaniment. Helping students find an appropriate song for their age and voice type.

The second part would be a mock audition, with Turner and her invited colleagues as judges. Students will be given a mini rating on how their interview, audition, and vocal technique exercises went. This would act as sort of a dress rehearsal, where kids come in the outfit they would wear, so they feel more comfortable for the big day!

Liz is a great teacher! She has been very knowledgeable, offering a wealth of insight and advice. My son really enjoyed his session and is planning on continuing to take lessons with Liz as he prepares for his college auditions.

I started taking lessons just to learn how to sing on key. I had joined a senior choir and never sang before. After several months of lessons I am actually beginning to sound like a singer. Much thanks to Liz. She is a great teacher.
