About Chinese Calligraphy for Adults
In this unique class, we will challenge ourselves to explore authentic Chinese calligraphy fundamentals and styles through hands-on experience. The class begins with the characters of number 1-10 in Chinese which includes some of the stroke patterns that appear in most Chinese language writings. You will also learn many stroke orders, which are the CORE of the writing in calligraphy form. Furthermore, we will learn how Chinese characters were formed by tracing them back to ancient times, how each character is cohesively connected to the ink brush painting styles in Asian art, and how the character writing style impacted contemporary art, especially in the early 20th-century Chinese artist's work. We will also be learning how stroke relates to the breath – Qi, the energy flow.

Jing Jing is a fun and engaging teacher. Both of my sons really enjoy the group class with her. They been learning calligraphy and how to pronounce the words. Currently they are working on 12 zodiac animals. Its a fun afternoon activity that kids are looking forward to every week. Thank you!

This was an awesome class! I chose it in the first place because in addition to the topic, I liked the teacher's photo that showed her not only smiling but laughing, having fun -- and she lived up to this profile pic. she's got, too, so I was absolutely not disappointed! I liked that she was not too much 'to the task' of just doing calligraphy but rather took the time to explain things slowly enough to be understood and absorbed, was interested in how the students were feeling -- I have never encountered this in a calligraphy teacher before! I've taken Chinese, Japanese, Tibetan, English, and Hebrew calligraphy classes and this is the first time any calligraphy teacher has talked about FEELING, which is certainly of utmost importance to me! It was GREAT! Highly recommended! Fun! Encouraging! Engaging! Informative! Effective! Couldn't ask for more. Bonus: she talked about health, too! :-)
