About Design a Sweater in the Round

This class is for the knitter who is interested in designing a sweater to be knitted in the round. Do you have some ideas for a design of your own, but don’t know where to start? In this class, we will explore some basic concepts for creating a sweater to be knitted in the round from the bottom up using a classic drop and modified drop sleeve construction. Other sleeve construction methods…as well as top-down construction... will also be discussed. Students will design a simple child’s sweater during class.

Required skills: basic knitting skills

The capacity for this class is 15 students.

Varian Brandon started knitting at age eight. A trip to the islands of Great Britain rekindled a love of color and created an interest in the traditions of Fair Isle design and construction. She is currently designing stranded colorwork patterns for several yarn companies, as well as her own website.
