About This is an Easy Top Down Boot Sock Recipe
From cast on to toe shaping, there is a lot to learn while making a sock! Knit in the round using double pointed needles to learn all the steps to create a custom fitting sock. Learn where to measure your foot and how to measure your gauge. Notice how your needles help you keep track of where you are. The heel turns quickly so your sock is on your foot sooner. Let one sock lead to many! Some experience with circular knitting helpful.
The capacity for this class is 10 students.
Materials, Equipment, and Supplies the Student Must Bring to Class
double pointed needles, size 4, 5 or 6
Yarn from home ( 1 oz.) you handspun efforts are fine. Not too small, sport or worsted weight.
Tape measure. Knitting needle gauge with gauge measuring window.
Materials Kit and Kit Description
Your class registration fee includes a materials kit with a value of $15 which includes:
Enough yarn to make a sample sock.
Use of double pointed needles.
Extra yarn for a whole pair will be available for purchase from instructor or at SAFF.

Helpful to have recent experience with circular knitting on any style of needles: metal, or wood or etc, double pointed, or circular.

Martha Owen is an artisan/shepherd and resident artist at the John C Campbell Folkschool (www.folkschool.org) in Brasstown, NC. She oversees classes in spinning/knitting,crochet/feltmaking /surface design and dyeing. Her adventure in spinning began here in 1978.
