Mixed Media Collage

Mixed Media Collage with Teri Jones and Laurie Trumpet Williams
Learn basic collaging techniques using hand made papers, old paintings and papers, napkins, specialty papers, acrylic paint and matte medium.
As a class we will create some collage papers and then design and build a painting from our creations.
I will also demonstrate how to collage old papers, napkins and tissue papers to create backgrounds or foundations for whimsical paintings.
This class is presented in collaboration with John C. Campbell Folk School and Lessonface. Class capacity is 30 students. Registration closes on November 17, 2023. Students are invited to attend a large group Orientation and Closing Ceremony to connect with various classes online.
Class Materials
Students will want to have ready:
• Watercolor paper or Bristol board
• Deli paper
• Any specialty papers you already own, pretty napkins, tissue paper
• Acrylic paints, metallic gold paint,
• Stamps or stencils
• Matte Medium or Modge Podge
• Watercolor or acrylic brushes
• Brayer
• Pencil, acrylic pens white, black and gold.

This class will meet for two 2-hour sessions on Saturday, November 18. The first session starts at 10 am ET | 7 am PT, and the second at 1:30 pm ET | 10:30 am PT, for a total of 4 hours of class.
Enrolled students receive 30-day access to the video recording of the class.
How It Works

Teri Jones
Teri has been a professional artist since 1998, and has won numerous local and regional awards for her paintings. She is represented by galleries throughout the States and the Virgin Islands. She opened her own River's Rim Studio and Gallery in downtown Brasstown, North Carolina, after relocating to the mountains in 2012. In this working studio, she paints and sells her watercolors, oils, and alcohol inks, and also teaches beginning and intermediate art classes. Teri developed her unique teaching style after noticing how students struggled to remember each step of a painting. Laurie "Trumpet" Williams is a distinguished mixed media artist, instructor, and community builder. With a deep passion for alcohol ink, gel printing, and mixed media collage, her work serves as a source of inspiration for many in the art community.
In 2017, Laurie took her dedication a step further by founding the Alcohol Ink Art Community and Society and Mixed Media Mad — both of which have grown into thriving communities on Facebook and Instagram.
