Auditioning: The Winning Mindset

About Auditioning: The Winning Mindset

What makes 5% of people win 95% of the competitions? Auditioning well is an art in itself. In this class, we will explore what it takes to become a winner. Auditions will be demystified and we will develop strategies to efficiently prepare for them. Additionally, we will discuss the mental game behind performing at an elite level. Lastly, we will technically, musically, and mentally prepare to compete successfully.

In this course students will:

- Learn how to practice efficiently and become bullet proof under pressure
- Build the mental game necessary to be successful in competitions
- Learn how to manage performance anxiety
- Discover how to stick out artistically from other candidates
- Manage time to be technically, mentally and artistically ready for the audition/competition day
- Understand what makes a winner from the juror's perspective
- Develop strategies to succeed on the audition day from what to do in the warm-up room to how to behave onstage

Additionally, students will be offered the opportunity to do Mock Auditions for the class. I will also demonstrate an audition round and let the students be the jurors. All instrumentalists are invited to join the class!
