About Guitar Workshop!
Students will be led through an intensive one-month electric guitar class. Learn the fundamentals of popular songs through chords, melodies, rhythms, and essential fretboard technique. Knowing how and why musical patterns work will help you to teach yourself and develop a solid foundation. Proper hand technique and ergonomically correct playing will be a focus. Acoustic or electric guitarists of all levels welcome.
Class Goals
- - Recognizing and playing common musical themes
- - Learn songs you like from a list compiled by the class on the first day
- - Tricks and tips for learning music more quickly
- - Easier memorization of pieces
- - Being able to play with others
- - Exercise your creativity as we write a song (all levels encouraged!)
- - Electric guitarist's guide to tone and basic pedal order

Skill Level
Beginners Encouraged: basic familiarity of the guitar and knowledge of a few simple open chords is preferable. Please contact Sara if you have questions about your skill level.
The class will meet for two 55-min live online sessions on Sundays 12/3 and 12/10 at 4 pm ET | 1 pm PT.

How It Works

Hi! I'm a professional guitarist and educator in Los Angeles, California. I graduated with an M.F.A. in music and am a doctoral student. I believe learning the fundamentals and ideas behind WHY songs work will help you teach yourself and build a foundation. Learning from several angles early on is essential - songs, patterns, a little theory, creative accidents -it all adds up to becoming a confident musician. If you have gaps in your knowledge, we can fill them. I have a large library of educational resources and cross-reference from several books and study materials. Really a good format for me as it was pick and choose, lets me integrated what I was trying to achieve but still learn new ideas, the Triads have been a great daily exercise for soloing and hammer on off practice, will be doing these programs moving forward better format for me than one on one lessons.
