About Hatmaking on a Beach Ball

Come and learn the ancient craft of wet felting. Learn all the skills you need to make a hat for yourself using a beachball as the resist. We will use superfine merino wool of the highest quality and comparable in softness to cashmere. Choose from a wide variety of colors.

The capacity for this class is 8 students.


Materials, Equipment, and Supplies the Student Must Bring to Class

two bath towels
15-25 clothes pins
flat metal baking sheet with a lip
approximate size = 13x18” or dish pan or basin
5” diameter piece of pipe (~4” high) or a 5” bowl

Deborah Robertson has no doubt that she stems from a lengthy line of spinners, weavers, seamstresses, embroiderers, and embellishers all the way back to prehistory. The daughter of a YWCA Camp Director, she was most often found in the Arts and Crafts cabin.
