Beginner French Language & Culture: Starts Oct. 28

French for beginners is an introduction to the French language and culture. Through authentic materials and hands-on activities, students will be able to practice the French pronunciation, grammar, and culture by using the four domains of listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Furthermore, the students will be able to practice the interpersonal, presentational, and interpretive modes of communication in a complete immersion setting.

ABOUT THE TEACHER MAGUY YANCEY

This is Dr. Yancey and I love teaching world languages. I have taught EL (English Learner), French, and Spanish K-16 and adults. I also taught French and Spanish online for 7 years.

I enjoy learning new languages and learn from other culture.

My biggest achievements were to rewrite the NC World language standards with the Department of Instruction for K-12 teachers and students, to have taught French and Spanish and be able to travel to Europe and Mexico with my students so they could practice in a complete immersion setting and learn from their other peers; to continue connecting with my former students and enjoy seeing them using their language skills to communicate with people on this planet.  Because of this continuous work, several of my students are bilingual and are also teaching in China and other places and will return to their home town and give back to their community and share their experiences. Furthermore, after traveling twice to different places in China in 2018 (  I am featured in the UNC world view spotlight for the month of July 2019) I have created a pilot course at my current school and established a partnership with schools in China and in my district.
