About Ear Training for Singers: Intervals & Scales
Understanding intervals and scales is fundamental for any singer aiming to improve pitch accuracy, melody recognition, and overall musicality. In this course, we’ll explore two key aspects of ear training: intervals and scales. During the first part of the course, you’ll practice recognizing and singing intervals, which form the building blocks of melodies. In the second part, we’ll dive into scales—Major, Minor, Pentatonic, and Chromatic—and learn how to sing them with precision. This course is perfect for beginners looking to solidify their basics, as well as more experienced singers who want to polish their skills.
The capacity for this class is 20 students.
Class Goals
- 1. Learn to recognize and sing common intervals (unison, seconds, thirds, fourths, etc.).
- 2. Understand how intervals form the foundation of melodies and harmonies.
- 3. Explore different scales, including Major, Minor, Pentatonic, and Chromatic.
- 4. Practice singing scales with confidence and apply them to your vocal repertoire.

I hold a Master's in Voice Performance degree from University of New Orleans and Bachelor of Science degree in Voice Performance from State Music Academy, Sofia, Bulgaria. In 2001, I toured with International European Opera Company which performed numerous times in Denmark, France, Italy and USA.
