About Learn to Spin Supported
Supported spindling has grown in popularity in recent years and for good reason. It’s less stressful on the body than drop spindling and travels just as easily. Learn the basics of this wonderful method of spinning and fall in love with so pinning all over again.
What will students learn:
How to spin on a supported spindle.
Materials, Equipment, and Supplies the Student Must Bring to Class
Must bring your own support spindle and bowl. I highly recommend a Tibetan-style support spindle to learn on.
Materials Kit and Kit Description
Your class registration fee includes a materials kit with a value of $35 which includes:
Fiber.
Pre-class Homework
No homework prior to class.

What skills or knowledge do students need to take this workshop?
Must be able to spin a single single comfortably. Experience with long draw is a plus.

Crystal Hesser has been spinning yarn for over a decade. She’s a regular contributor to Ply and Tiny Studios Magazines and is the creative mind behind Spin Up Girl. She shares her fiber exploits on Instagram at @spin_up_girl. Her specialties are inspired art yarns and supported spinning, but is also well-versed in traditional styles.
About Lessonface, PBC & the Carolina FiberFest

Since 2012, we've hosted more than 30,000 students and 2,000 teachers for over 500,000 music, language, and arts lessons and classes online. The 19th annual Carolina FiberFest is March 14-15, 2025 in the Expo Center at the NC State Fairgrounds. Workshops will be held in the Dorton Arena March 13-15, 2025.
